A foot orthosis is a device that can be discretely inserted into the shoe to support, align, prevent and/or accommodate foot abnormalities and improve how the foot functions. There are various foot problems including Over Pronation/Supination, Diabetic Ulcers, Metatarsalgia, Plantar Fasciitis, Heel Spurs and Bunions. These custom-made orthotics help relieve pain and treat the specific foot problems.
At Germishuys and Van Den Berg O&P we analyse our patient’s gait pattern using a pressure plate and looking at how it affects the ankle, knee, hip and back. This data helps us to design a perfect fitting orthotic. We then take an impression or 3D scan to create a custom mould of the foot to designing and manufacture their unique foot orthotics.
