Off-the-shelf / Premanufactured
Germishuys and van den Berg stocks a large variety of pre manufactured orthotics. We put countless hours into selecting products that we believe to have the best quality vs. cost ratio, work with other medical professionals to determine the best possible treatment options and consider patient preferences.
Premanufactured orthotics are generally indicated for injuries, pain management, sport etc.
At Germishuys and Van Den Berg we also provide the appropriate knee orthoses, carefully selected from leading suppliers for any knee pathology or knee injury. Common knee conditions include Osteo- arthritis, meniscal injuries, Osgood-shclatter, and ligament injuries.
Sport
Most sport and outdoor activities place large amounts of strain on our bodies and often leaves us susceptible to injury. At Germishuys and Van Den Berg O&P we recommend the use of braces and supports to prevent injury (Prophylactic) and after injury to optimise healing and help you be active again as soon as possible.
Abdominal Binders
Abdominal binders are essentially broad elastic bands that are tied around the abdomen and usually close in the front with Velcro. They are used to decrease the amount of pain a patient would experience after abdominal surgery, childbirth (C-section and the old fashioned way) and to those who have had a hernia previously as a matter of preventing another.
Upper Extremity protection
Upper extremity injuries can happen to anyone, but they are most commonly related to falling onto an outstretched hand. Athletes and professionals who do repetitive motions with their hands and wrists are also at higher risk of these types of injuries.
Upper extremity orthotics are designed for the shoulder, arm, elbow, wrist and hand. These devices can be used for a range of needs from stability to immobilization and include three main areas of orthotics: Soft supports, Positional supports and Fracture orthoses.
